5 DAY DEVOTIONALS

Mar 23, 2025    Pastor Scott

Here's a 5-day Bible reading plan and devotional guide based on the themes from Sunday Morning Message>

Day 1: Seeking Jesus at All Costs

Reading: Mark 2:1-12

Devotional: Today's passage reminds us of the extraordinary lengths people went to in order to encounter Jesus. The paralyzed man's friends were so determined that they tore open a roof to lower him before Christ. Their actions demonstrate the importance of pursuing Jesus with unwavering determination. In our own lives, what obstacles are we willing to overcome to draw near to God? Reflect on any barriers - physical, emotional, or spiritual - that may be hindering your closeness with Christ. Ask God for the strength and courage to push through these obstacles, just as the friends did for the paralytic. Remember, Jesus sees and honors our faith when we earnestly seek Him.

Day 2: The Power of Forgiveness

Reading: Colossians 3:12-17

Devotional: In Mark's account, Jesus first addressed the paralytic's spiritual need by forgiving his sins. This reminds us that our greatest need is always spiritual - the forgiveness of our sins and reconciliation with God. Today's reading in Colossians emphasizes the importance of forgiveness in our lives as believers. As you reflect on this passage, consider both your need for God's forgiveness and your call to forgive others. Are there areas in your life where you're struggling to accept God's forgiveness? Are there people you need to forgive? Ask the Holy Spirit to work in your heart, helping you to fully receive God's forgiveness and extend that same grace to others.

Day 3: Jesus: The Divine Healer

Reading: Isaiah 53:4-5

Devotional: The healing of the paralytic man demonstrates Jesus' power over both spiritual and physical ailments. Today's reading from Isaiah prophesies about the Messiah who would bear our griefs and carry our sorrows. Jesus fulfills this prophecy, offering holistic healing - body, mind, and spirit. As you meditate on these verses, consider areas in your life where you need Christ's healing touch. It might be physical healing, emotional wounds, or spiritual struggles. Bring these before the Lord in prayer, trusting in His power and willingness to make you whole. Remember, sometimes healing comes instantly, and other times it's a process, but Jesus is always working for our good and His glory.

Day 4: Faith That Moves Mountains

Reading: Matthew 17:14-20

Devotional: The friends of the paralytic man demonstrated remarkable faith by going to extreme measures to bring him to Jesus. Their actions remind us of the power of faith, which Jesus speaks about in today's reading. He tells us that even faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains. Reflect on your own faith journey. Are there areas where your faith feels small or weak? Remember, it's not the size of our faith that matters, but the object of our faith - Jesus Christ. Ask God to strengthen your faith, even in small ways, and to help you trust Him more fully. Consider one step of faith you can take today, no matter how small it may seem.

Day 5: Community and Compassion

Reading: Galatians 6:2-5

Devotional: The story of the paralytic man beautifully illustrates the power of community and compassion. Four friends came together to help someone in need, demonstrating Christ-like love in action. Today's reading in Galatians encourages us to bear one another's burdens. As you reflect on this passage, consider how you can be a supportive friend to those around you. Who in your life might need help being brought to Jesus? How can you show compassion and support to those struggling with physical, emotional, or spiritual challenges? Ask God to give you eyes to see the needs around you and the courage to act in love, just as the friends of the paralytic did.
