5 DAY DEVOTIONALS

Apr 13, 2025    Pastor Scott Slone

Day 1: True Worship Reading: Mark 11:1-11, John 4:23-24

Devotional: As we reflect on Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, we're reminded that God desires true worship from us. The people praised Jesus, but their worship was based on their own expectations rather than who He truly was. Today, examine your own worship. Are you praising God for who He is, or for what you want Him to do? True worship comes from a heart that recognizes God's sovereignty and majesty, regardless of our circumstances. Spend time today offering God praise simply for who He is, setting aside your personal desires and expectations.

Day 2: Biblical Perspective Reading: Isaiah 55:8-9, Romans 12:2

Devotional: The crowds in Jerusalem misunderstood Jesus' mission because they lacked a biblical perspective. How often do we fall into the same trap, viewing our lives and circumstances through a worldly lens rather than God's? Today, consider an area of your life where you're struggling to understand God's plan. Ask the Holy Spirit to renew your mind and help you see things from God's perspective. Remember, His ways are higher than ours, and His plans are ultimately for our good and His glory.

Day 3: Obedient Follow-Through Reading: Luke 9:23-26, James 1:22-25

Devotional: Jesus calls us not just to hear His words, but to follow Him obediently. The people of Jerusalem were quick to praise Jesus but slow to truly follow Him. Reflect on areas in your life where you know what God is calling you to do, but you've hesitated to obey fully. What's holding you back? Remember, true discipleship involves denying ourselves, taking up our cross daily, and following Jesus. Today, commit to taking one concrete step of obedience in an area where you've been hesitant.

Day 4: The Coming Kingdom Reading: Revelation 19:11-16, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Devotional: While Jesus' first coming was marked by humility, His second coming will be in power and glory. As we await Christ's return, how does this future hope impact your present reality? The promise of Jesus' return and the establishment of His eternal kingdom should fill us with both comfort and urgency. Take time today to meditate on the hope we have in Christ's return. How can this hope sustain you in difficult times and motivate you to share the gospel with others?

Day 5: Living as Kingdom Ambassadors Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:17-21, Colossians 3:1-4

Devotional: As followers of Christ, we are called to be ambassadors of His kingdom in this world. While we await Jesus' physical return, His kingdom is present now through the lives of His followers. How are you representing Christ's kingdom in your daily life? Consider your interactions with others, your priorities, and your choices. Are they aligned with kingdom values? Today, ask God to help you live in a way that clearly demonstrates the reality of His kingdom to those around you. Seek opportunities to extend His love, grace, and truth to others as His ambassador.
